Remember how much everybody loved X:3?

Director Brett Ratner had revealed that he may consider doing a future X-Men movie.

The Rush Hour filmmaker, who took over the franchise from Bryan Singer for 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, said that he could possibly be swayed given the right script.

He told MTV: "The thing with the X-Men universe is, I feel like I've already done it. Certain things I would go after and certain things only if the script is great."

Ratner said that two potential projects that have piqued his interest are X-Men: First Class and X-Men Origins: Magneto, adding: "I heard a rumour that they were going to do a young X-Men, which would be great.

"I would love to see a Magneto movie personally, because I love the Holocaust backstory. I'd love to see a Storm movie too."

However, he admitted that if he decides not to helm another film in the franchise, he would love to see what Steven Spielberg could do with the series.

He said: "I'd love to see Spielberg do it. A Spielberg X-Men movie would be something I'd love to see."

Ratner's next film project is the adaptation of Rob Liefeld's comic book Youngblood.

Eugh!

I really hope he would never be asked back to the movies, Does he think he made a good movie? Is he one of those people thats like "fuck the internet what do they know?"
Plus he's working on Young Blood which I'm sure will put the final nail into his film carreer and he can go back to making generic music videos for Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Jessica Simpson.

Right now Id love to see Matt Reeves direct with a script from Josh Schwartz for the Young X Men. I'm pretty sure the Magneto film will never be made.

Brett "Rat" ner just irks me in general. And Last stand was garbage. I want Singer back! He had the third movie all planned out until Fox dicked him over and refused to let him direct the third movie if he was doing Superman. Fox Studios have always been dicks to artist and mainly make films for money. Singer's third film was suppose to be incorporated into the Ultimate X-men universe but never made it in. The movie franchise is dead for X Men.

X-Men 3 made a lot of money, but I think that might have been off the back of X-Men 2 rather than the artistic merits of Brett Ratner, so I doubt the film company is going to let him back in.

I think a prequel featuring the five original X-Men would be great fun, as long as they don't make it all teeny-bobby One Tree Hill style. I'd also love to see a New Mutants movie, an X-Force (current incarnation) movie or tv show and an X-Factor government sponsored team movie. It's such a rich and expansive universe....but then again if they still haven't gotten Superman completely right after all this time, it may be a while before we see another awesome X-Men movie. I think we should be thankful X-Men 2 was so wonderful, and leave it there.

I liked X-Men 3. It was a solid follow up to X-2. Granted, my only real complaint is that Alan Cummings didn't return as Nightcrawler. But, I think if they are going to reboot the franchise with a prequel, they should go in a different direction. New director, new writers, new cast.

there's a ton of rumors flying around. Ratner coming back is one, Singer having an interest in the 4th is another, Marvel waiting out the deal with Fox to reboot the whole thing from the beginning is another. There is the second orgins movie coming featuring Magneto and Xavier. Personally I would hope that Marvel Studios gets the rights and they reboot it with the original team.

Agreed. Fox can't make a solid superhero movie to save their lives -- and, yes, I include X1 & X2 in that. (They were Ok but not hit out of the ballpark.) Fox can give me great indie movies until the cows come home (Slumdog, (500) Days of Summer, etc), but let the X-Franchise, FF, and Daredevil go back to Marvel, where they'll be done right.

Most people do. Hell, I do. X1 & X2 were good, perfectly serviceable movies, and I really enjoyed them. I just don't think they were great, the way that I thought Spiderman 1 & 2 were great, or the way Iron Man was great, or Batman Begins, or the original Superman.

The recent Hulk was, I think in the X1/X2 class, and maybe a bit better for character depth. And Iron Man set a whole new standard for superhero movie quality. It was, IMO, without flaw, and I don't say that lightly.

So I'd rather see Marvel take over its properties. I think you need a passion for the original characters in order to make superhero movies work, and, so far, Marvel's showing that. Where Fox seems to be treating them as marketable intellectual property that should be crafted for maximum demographic penetration (which always leaves me feeling a bit penetrated).

But X Men is really one of the first teen dramas. Its also the ultimate soap opera.

Hopefully with the O.C./Gossip Girl/Chuck writer we'll get a great mix of funny/drama/action.

With Leighton Meester (Blair from Gossip Girl) as a young Emma Frost. . . PLEASE!

I think although X-Men 2 still had it's tiny flaws (notably saggy portrayals of Storm and Rogue) , there are some AWESOME moments in it. The whole scene where they storm the X-Mansion is just about perfect, I definitely wanted more of that.

Thankfully, a lot of the mess that was X3 can be reversed if they did choose to carry on from where they left off. Jean and Scott could be found in a cocoon at the bottom of the lake, like nothing ever happened. I'd like to see villains other than Magneto though, especially the Sentinels. Apocalypse, if done right, could be fantastic, and I would love to see Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch on the big screen.

That said, I am sure Marvel Studios would do a much better job of anything. I really, really want to see the original team in a movie. I think a retro-ish feel to a cartoon involving the original team would be great fun too (sort of in the vein of the Legion cartoon...think of all those kooky 60's villains!).

Okay, forget the X-Men for a second, let me see if I got this straight--they're making a Youngblood movie?

You're telling me that someone, somewhere, in the bowels of Hollywood, found this comic, saw the pages, or even just read a synopsis, and went, "This would make a great movie!"

...Hollywood is fucked.

I must admit, though, a Spielberg-directed X-Men would be interesting though.

I think Youngblood could be interesting if it was done totally tongue in cheek.

Hmm...maybe...get a bunch of bodybuilders to star, give them the most lamest, bombastic lines ever (some of which would work by just using direct quotes from the source) and just go overboard on the blood, gore, violence and sex, and it could make for the next great classic shit movie that drinking games are made for.
