I wish I could claim to have thought of this myself, but I must credit my boyfriend with coming up with the perfect thing to do if you should come upon Rob Liefeld at a con:

Attempt to commission a Rictor/Shatterstar sketch from him.

You know what's a better way to stop Rob Liefeld? Don't go to his fucking booth. Espicially don't go to his booth and pull shit like that, because it only makes him sympathetic and you the Comic Book Guy fucktard.

I think it was really funny, and certainly knocked him down a peg or two. He would have appeared more endearing if he'd just embraced it and gone with the joke. If that was me, I would have sketched an Onslaught crying going "Sorry for the boo boo!" or something. Instead he got arsey, so I don't think he appears at all endearing in any capacity. I have zero empathy for him, he's kind of the biggest joke in comics.

I saw the video of him, he didn't look at all affected by it. The only thing that changed was that the guy next to him got a free copy of How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way.

It's funny to look at on the web and be detached about it. Just the same, these guys do spend time, effort and cash to come to these things. It's fine to have a issue with one or want to reasonably debate them on something but stuff like this can cause a lot of nonsense for other fans, like the next person that comes to the table. They get an attitude that the creator didn't have a minute ago and now their experience is soured. Trust me I know what it's like the be in a room with someone that you can't stand. How many of these things have I been to with Ethan Van Sciver. I don't like him or his conservative views that he can't shut up about. I've wanted to tell him too many times, but I don't because there's some kid that's going to come up in the middle of it and want his New X-Men or Green Lantern book signed ior want i sketch and there's this crap happening in front of them . It's not fair. I kindly stay away and look for people I do like to chat with or would to tell them thanks for coming out and the work that they have done.

That's really considerate. Kudos! Applause

I think Lewis Black said it best:

"When you're arguing with someone who's an asshole, you don't win by being a bigger asshole, because it make the real asshole look like a mere rectum."

I consider myself very luck NOT to have had a crap encounter with a celeb or "person of note" I respect, admire or just think is pretty. That's why I stay away from some people.. I call it my John Byrne rule. I worship his Alpha Flight, FF, X-Men, Namor etc runs but I don't want to meet him or at least if I do I remember that Seinfeld Soup Nazi episode and know the rules of the line.

Also growing up in the 70's and 80's before the inter-web tubes, you didn't have THIS much info on these people. Occasionally you'd see a pic or a charicature on the letter's page and you'd have an idea of who was writing these things. I always thought it would be cool to meet these people say that I liked this or that and maybe get something signed and just say thank you for giving such great moemnets of joy. In essence, that's what the cons are for me. A chance to chit chat and maybe get into their minds, maybe ..just maybe share some ideas on things. That's why I run myself ragged during the cons to meet as many people as I can or hear people speak. Some where inside me it's 1978 and the White Dragon just dropped a defeated, chained -up Spider-Man in a vat of liquid and has set it on fire and I'm sitting there, mouth wide open wondering what happens next.

I want to know what happens next...
