There will probably be a bit of one--Williams' art is too good for a full arc to be done by around Fall at the very least. |
True enough. I enjoyed Jock's work on the new arc 'Cutter' and wouldn't mind him sticking around until JH is ready to rock again.
I saw some solicitations for upcoming issues of Detective Comics and they include The Question back-ups but feature Batman in the main story. I'm hoping this is only a blip. I need my Batwoman fix on a monthly basis!!! |
I believe they have said it is meant to be a fill-in. |

Enjoying cutter and Jock's art as well! But comparing him to Williams is like apples and pita squares (well maybe not that extreme but you get my meaning.)

Agreed. You can't compare the styles but I do feel that Jock's incendiary style fits Detective. Of course, I will welcome more JH when his work returns!

NOOOO! DC What are you doing?????
April 2 2010:
"During his spotlight panel at Wondercon, moderated by our own Laura Hudson, Greg Rucka dropped a bombshell. He has been out of exclusive with DC Comics for three years, despite spending those three years working exclusively with DC, and his time with them is over. He just turned in the last of his DC work for the foreseeable future, and his time with Kate Kane is done. He reiterated his love for the character, saying that walking away from her was an incredibly hard decision to make, but one that was necessary."

It is almost inconceivable to me that DC would let such a talent go especially after he has launched one of it's best characters and comics runs ever!
I sure hope Dan has an ace up his sleeve because Batwoman under Greg is one of the best characters ever!
Just. Wow.

Hopefully they find a place to keep Kate and Renee around in--maybe the Birds of Prey? |

There is no way they are pulling the plug on Batwoman.
I'll bet that Rucka and Williams have one arc of the Batwoman title in the can already and then someone else will pick up the reins. Maybe Gail Simone or Marc Andreyko.
I just hope that The Question will be the back-up. To split them up would be a downer.

I don't think they do--they were saying the initial reason why Jock was put on for the Cutter arc was so that Williams could have more head-time for the next arc, but when he says he's not sure what's going to happen even though the arc I believe is over, that's saying something.
Now that I think about it, the solicit for Det #866 (with O'Neil writing and Nguyen doing the art, which I'm SO hyped for) says to "come back next month for the return of Batwoman and The Question!" So having someone else write the book is possible. I think it'll have to be a HELL of a team if they want to keep the sales numbers up, though. |

I just hope it's not O'Neil writing her return adventures. Otherwise, she'll end up ditching her costume for an all white jumpsuit, become prone to crying and we'll be introduced to a new male detective character who'll bail Kate out whenever something goes wrong.

Was that a Wonder Woman/Catwoman mash reference?

So there is gong to be a Batwoman book--but Rucka won't be involved. Instead, J.H. Williams is both co-writing and will do the art for the first arc, and his back-up artist will be the same girl who's currently doing Madame Xanadu.
Apparently Williams has some writing experience, so who knows? I think it still has a chance of kicking ass. |
