AMERICAN VIRGIN #17
BLACK CANARY #3 (OF 4)
COUNTDOWN 39
DETECTIVE COMICS #835
THE EXTERMINATORS #20
FAKER #2 (OF 6)
MS MARVEL #18
NEW AVENGERS ILLUMINATI #4 (OF 5)
SHE-HULK 2 #20
THOR #2
UNCANNY X-MEN #489
VERONICA #182

I hadn't read any Thor since Walt Simonson's run...I enjoyed the first issue quite a bit, so I'll stick with it for a while.

Does anyone else read The Exterminators or American Virgin? That last page in the last issue of The Exterminators gave me nightmares. Yikes!

My choices, along with what I'm expecting from them (stars out of 5):

DETECTIVE COMICS #835 $2.99
-- **** A solid performer, unlikely to disappoint.

FAKER #2 (OF 6) (MR) $2.99
-- **** Issue 1 was a solid setup issue, and they've established the characters and hinted at the problem. Now we get to see the problem play out, and get to see how long before everyone realizes that something's going on.

GOOD AS LILY $9.99
-- **** They mentioned this in the DC panels at Philly: this is the Minx volume about the girl who meets herself at 3 different ages of her life. This could be really good.

JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #8 $2.99
-- *** I've been finding JSA cute, kind of fun, but not overwhelming. But we're getting KC Superman soon, so I'll hang on a bit longer for that.

METAL MEN #1 (OF Cool $2.99)
-- *** I loved these guys when I was a kid; I'll give them a couple of issues to grab me.

MIDNIGHTER #10 $2.99
-- *** Ok, Giffen, the post-Ennis rotating writers have been good; let's see what you can do.

SUPERGIRL #20 (AA) $2.99
-- ** Warning, warning, Will Robinson! The first issue for the new creative team, and it's an Amazon's Attack tie in. Crap. Also, the new art puts Supergirl in a frilly microskirt that looks to me to be about as far from the "real girl" look that I thought they were going for as you can get. Double-crap.

NEW WARRIORS #3 CWI $2.99
-- ** The first two issues have been Ok, but wandering through Slow Setup Land. I'll give them 2 more to pay off, and then I'm out.

WORLD WAR HULK #3 (OF 5) WWH $3.99
-- **** Been good so far, but I better see some seriously punished Illuminati or I'm going to be very disappointed.

THOR #2 $2.99
-- ***** Oh, thank god! Saving the probably best for last, the one book in this lineup that excites me. Sweet.

There's no Invincible this week, but it looks like a pretty good week nonetheless.

Oh yeah, I'll be picking this up, too. Thanks for reminding me. I've really enjoyed the Minx books so far, well, except for "Clubbing" which went all batshit at the end. This one looks pretty odd.

The premise reminds me of Manequin from Alpha Flight, the dude who could pull future and past versions of himself from the time stream to help him out? One was a caveman, one a protozoa and another a big-headed smart guy from the year kabillion.

I plan to get Midnighter 10. It's good to see they've been able to release this title on time, while the Authority has been stuck on issue 2 forever.

I think the final issue of The Dark Tower comes out. I've really been enjoying this, and I hope we can look forward to more Dark Tower series in the future.

I just read his Wikipedia entry. Some days I have more sympathy with "No more mutants" than others -- he's not at the level of Eye Scream, but he's getting there.
