| Well my local shop is doing a 52 for $52.00 so I'll be getting the number ones for a buck each. Nice way to taste the whole line. |

I have a part time gig at Hastings (major retailer that sells comics). Anyway, I decided not to order any of the DCnU but as I was working last night and saw the new Justice League the addict in me had to pick it up.
Wow was it awful. Really awful. Reminded me of why I hate Geoff Johns and why he is the most overrated writer working today. The Jim Lee art is fine. If you are a Lee fan you'll be quite happy.
$3.99 for Batman fighting a parademon, Green Lantern shows up, they go look for Superman. That's it. That's all that happened. Oh, with Johns' signature sappy-shitty dialogue.
Do not buy unless you can get it for a dollar or less.

I loved it, despite it not having the full cast yet. I'll buy anything Geoff Johns writes, despite the ridiculous Jim Lee art. I have yet to figure out why Superman needs body armor...

I checked out Wonder Woman and it looked really good, a different tone than I was expecting...
I think I'll wait until they make a trade of this.
I can't find Animal Man anywhere, which I REALLY want to read. Guess I'll have to do the same with that.
A lot of it honestly looks like more of the same, which isn't necessarily bad but if you're going to reboot all your titles, it seems like a great time to cut out some of the fat but also try some radical new things, just to see what happens.
I heard they're doing a huge hardcover of all the number one issues collected in one book. Is there really a market for such a thing?

I liked JL; it wasn't really eventful, but it did a lot of establishing of the new universe. Heroes working individually, not yet in society's good graces, meeting up for the first time, on their way to establishing their supergroup. I liked it, but it's clearly going to be one of those books well improved by a trade collection, when you can read the whole establishing arc at once.
My favorites so far have been Action Comics, Animal Man, JL, and Superboy. Detective Comics was slightly below that, followed by Nightwing and Blue Beetle, and I'll probably keep reading all of these.
Resurrection Man was Ok, but I think it will be better in trades so I'll wait for those. Supergirl was Ok, though another short establishing issue; I'm in for 2-3 more, to get the feel of it, but I don't expect to stick with it unless they're persuasive. Batman & Batman and Robin were Ok, good in their own ways, but I probably won't buy any more.
JLI was meh, and Stormwatch didn't grab me, so I'm done with those.
And it looks like I'll have to buy Teen Titans for a couple of issues at least. They're introducing a gay character, and tribal loyalty demands that I at least try it out, and support it for as long as I can tolerate it if it's weak.
I have to give DC credit for a very well managed reboot. They got a lot of up-front press with the reboot itself and, more importantly, with the move to same-day digital, and that had a big impact on sales, so they're setting sales records. I think they're writing some very good books -- a number of them have been very well reviewed, and I've really liked about half of what I've bought, which is an unusually high ratio for me for new mainstream books. I've bought a bunch so far and will buy at least 4 or 5 on an ongoing basis now where I was only buying a couple of Vertigo titles from them before. And the same-day-digital release has definitely resulted in my buying more: I'm only buying the digital versions, and it's absurdly easy to impulse buy when a book can be bought and downloaded without my leaving my armchair. And I know a couple of others who are buying DC books that they wouldn't have without digital. So, well done, gents!
