The whole story behind how I started doing these is in issue two (available for free at the Back Issues section of Peculiar Comics); so far, I've created two stories, with plans for at least five more (the strips are WAY easier than two pages).

DIRE EARTH: Dirk Darkness #1

DIRE EARTH: Gay Marriaged

Wow, I really like these... they remind me a little of animation stills... and a little of dioramas!

Thanks! I was going more for dioramas, but I can completely understand the animation comparison. I HAVE, however, considered animating these, especially since part of the process is re-layering them in Photoshop after scanning the inked drawings.

I just did that a few months ago for my boyfriend's show. It is a little tedious until you step back and remember that all that oldschool, pre-millenium animation was drawn and painted by hand, frame by frame! Then you suck it up and soldier on.

When you finish it is well worth it... sort of the best of both worlds between 2D and computer animation. I think your style would lend itself well to animation!

Just make sure you are super organized. It can get really ugly really quick if you don't have that type A organization gene (which I'm unfortunately lacking).

Oh man, don't I know it! I love old school stuff. My degree is in Kinetic Imaging, which is a shmancy way of saying "animation, sound editing, video, and drinking during rendering". Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to stay up till four in the morning to make it work. :-(

What did you do for your boyfriend's show? Are there YouTube links?

Well, it's complicated. We have a DVD of the show but I don't know when I'll ever get the chance to upload any of it. We're just using it to apply to things right now.

We are doing it again at the Hot Festival this year so there might be more video coming soon (and finger's crossed at a festival in Canada too).

Thanks! :-D

More coming in the near future, including a six-page Morrisonian story involving more tones than just sepia.
