I hope that those that love Batwoman in Detective Comics and didn't read FINAL CRISIS: REVELATIONS will now go back and get the trade. It rocked out!!

I couldn't agree more - the entire time I was reading it, I was thinking - THIS is the gay character I've been waiting for.

Alas, I fear it will still be a long time before a male gay character gets the same treatment. Let's face it, to the majority of the comic book reading audience, lesbians are hot and gay men are icky.

True dat, this is a gay character that is simply written as a character that is gay. It;s about time.

Not to sound spoiled, because I do appreciate the fact that so high profile of a Bat-character being gay is fantastic, but the same ought to be done with a gay male character. From what is going on in JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRY FOR JUSTICE Robinson may do just what we are looking for,

Stay tuned.

Yep, the blue one. I like how Robinson is handling him.I also love how in Cry for Justice how he shows how he has done research on each of the major players in the story.

But anyway back to Batwoman!

So far the origin story, "GO!" is absolutely stellar!

Kate Kane is my homegirl!

Peace,

Kyle

DETECTIVE COMICS #861

Words by Greg Rucka Art by Jock!

Batwoman works to solve the case of the deranged Cutter! An investigation begun by Batman years ago. Will Kate be able to stop this madman before another innocent woman is lost?

http://www.dccomics.com/media/excerpts/13788_x.pdf

What I love most about this issue is how it drops Batwoman into a very grizzly case to solve right off the bat. No rest for Kate Kane from the last arc. I like this choice by Rucka as it gives readers greater sense of who Kate Kane is and what she is about: She is a driven woman of action!

In addition to Rucka's brilliant dialogue and pacing, is the artwork by Jock! The art in this issue is reminiscent of incendiary styles of Denys Cowman and Bill Sienkiewicz, both masters of the gritty style of DC 80s Batman comics.

If you ain't reading this book you are truly missing out!

Yeah, I can't believe there are folks who aren't picking this up! I'm glad he brought back Bette Kane. I look forward to seeing her develop into an important part of Kate's supporting cast.

I hope there isn't much of a gap between 863 and the new Batwoman title.

She's also in the latest issue of Batman And Robin, and Morrison writes her pretty well!

I'm so glad I am not getting to know more about her back story now. I loved the first arc but I always had that little voice going - Who are these people?

There will probably be a bit of one--Williams' art is too good for a full arc to be done by around Fall at the very least.

True enough. I enjoyed Jock's work on the new arc 'Cutter' and wouldn't mind him sticking around until JH is ready to rock again.

I saw some solicitations for upcoming issues of Detective Comics and they include The Question back-ups but feature Batman in the main story. I'm hoping this is only a blip. I need my Batwoman fix on a monthly basis!!!
