Featuring Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

Discuss.

Have you guys thought about asking Gail Simone if she would be interested in being interviewed?

I interviewed her at CAPE with a dead battery. So basically I was waving a digital recorder in her face and asking her questions for no reason.

Oh my god, I worry about Zombie attacks in NYC ALL THE TIME! I just read World War Z, and I haven't been able to sleep properly the last few days. Freakin' scary book.

I just picture my apartment building getting infested with zombies and me having to stay in my room and wait for an army that will never come because the government has fled west. Jeez. Embarassed

I hate zombies.

No worries, zombies are easy. They move slowly, so you can outrun them, and you can always disable them with head trauma. So locate the closest gun store, and raid it for shotguns and ammo the minute the zombies start rising. You can take down all the zombies you want, no worries.

(Shaun of the Dead proved that any fool with a baseball bat can take out zombies.)

Now alien attacks... those'll keep you up nights!

well, it all depends on what kind of zombies we're talking about. george romero/shaun of the dead i'm not too worried, but still wouldn't want to be trapped in NY where the living would be crazy stupid about the undead.

28 days later/new dawn of the dead and i may as well give up right then! those bastards can run! RUNNING ZOMBIES!!!!

i'll have to pick up this "world war z" you speak of jane. i love the zombie movie genre, have branched a little into zombie comics, but have yet to find a zombie novel i'd like to read (totally NOT counting "the cell" by stephen king...not really zombies)

A gun store? In NYC? Really? Such things exist!? Haha, I remember I visited my relatives in North Carolina several years ago. I was surprised to see how there was an entire gun aisle in the Wal-Mart. The closest thing Wal-Marts here sell for guns are BB guns and water pistols. It's hard to legally obtain a gun in these parts.

My uncle had a selection of shot guns and hand guns. I also think he idolized Charlton Heston. I find it hard to see that my dad and him are related since my dad is iffy with guns.

World War Z is a really great book. It's just freakin' scary. IMO, its scary in the same manner that 28 Days Later was scary. The book deals mainly with the human experience against Zombies.

I've had dreams about killing zombies with prosthetic legs and fire extinguishers the past few nights. Jeezus, I'm way too sensitive to the books I read.

Quite right -- I should have said local drug dealer or mafia member. When in Little Italy...

Failing that, a sporting good store will do. Crossbows and spear guns take more aiming, but the ammo's reusable. And an aerosol can of anything plus a barbecue lighter (the kind with the lighter flame at the end of a longish nozzle) make great impromptu flamethrowers, perfect for setting their faces on fire. And, again, baseball bats are the old reliable.

A vial of holy water in a little bag around your neck when you go to bed will handle the dreams -- or, if you're more New Age, sacred stones in the bag, a dream catcher above your bed, or any ward against the evil eye. It may not sound serious, but if you believe in spirituality, these things have power, and if you don't, the psychological impact of them is that they're effective defenses against evil, and that will resonate with your subconscious and help you sleep soundly.

(I'm a veritable Dear Abbey of the undead. Have ritual; will travel.)

DUDE! I am so reading that book. It was written by the same guy who wrote World War Z. Just so that I could learn to properly tie a bayonet to a baseball bat or something.
