Am I late to the party on this one? Did you all already know about this? I swear, when I get my time sphere back I'm going to jump from universe to universe until i find a parallel world where this film was really made and then I'm going to buy it on DVD or Beta or whatever format is popular in this Dazzler-centric universe and then I'm going to find the Mojo of that universe and the two of us are goign to watch the fuck out of that movie.

There was also supposed to be a Dazzler album. I think the film treatment became the basis for Dazzler The Movie graphic novel, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
A shame they never made it, but then again we'll always have Jem. Synergy! |

God that would have made Supergirl look like The Hours.

| As much as I would have LOVED to watch this movie, I gotta say that not making it is probably one of the few smart decisions that DC has ever made with their film properties! |

As much as I love me some Dazzler, that graphic novel was UNREADABLE, seriously one of the worst things I think Marvel ever released.
I wonder if Rodney Dangerfield was supposed to be Roman Nekoboh? How alarming.

| Is the graphic novel part of the Essential Dazzler trade? |

Isn't that totally groovy news? I'm soooo jazzed BC got all this info out of Shooter!
I've read the treatment. It has NOTHING to do with Dazzler: the Movie GN, because Dazzler didn't even have a comics character at that point. The movie treatment read as more about spotlighting all of Casablanca's key properties (Village People, Donna Summer, KISS, Cher, et cet) than about the superheroes in it.
It would have been a gay camp classic like Xanadu (but universally panned all the same) would it have been actually made. Trust. Cher, Donna Summer, the Village People, and a disco mutant?! Gol-den.
And no, Dazzler: The Movie isn't collected in the Essential. That would be Essential Dazzler vol. 2 territory, as it falls between Dazzler #34 - #35.

| Isn't it funny how one of the biggest homophobes in comics could have ended up being responsible for one of the gayest films ever? Hmm... |
