Review: Steele reads it!* Trinity War: Part 1

Share

(*So you don’t have to.)

Let’s talk about what’s going on in the man of Steele’s apartment of solitude right now, July 23, at 7:43pm CDT.

1) I have a pork loin in the oven and laundry in the dryer.

2) I have consumed a half-bottle of $4.99 Barefoot Chardonnay in less than 20 minutes. (Thank heaven for 7-Eleven)

3) I picked up a huge ball of cat fur and put it in the recycling bin because the garbage can was a l l  t h e  w a y  o v e r  t h e r e.

Now I’m on the back porch with my jeans rolled up like Huck Finn and a stack of Trinity Wars by my side so let’s get started…

Previously on the DC’s The Trinity Wars. The House that Batman built remembered that the escape clause character PANDORA existed and decided to put her to (good) use. They gave us a quick but detailed back story on her and her dangerous box.

That was the prelude but this is the main event, starting in Justin League #22. This time I decided rather than read it twice then review it, that I would “live blog” it. Meaning I am typing as I am reading it for the first time. Let’s see what happens.

stevieD Says – X-Factor #259

How's that paradox working out for you?

X-Factor 259: Peter David, Carmen Carnero, Jay Leisten, Matt Milla

When Peter David first re-launched X-Factor as a noir-esque detective agency, I was all about it. I was enthralled by the Madrox mini-series that set up this premise. I don’t remember exactly what that book was about, but I remember thinking that this format fit perfectly with Jamie Madrox as the hard-boiled detective solving cases in a world of thick black lines, muddy colors, lots and lots of shadows with just enough of Jamie’s dry wit.

By the end of that mini, it was announced that a new X-Factor book, helmed by Mr. David, would soon find it’s way to the comic shops bringing the sensibility of the mini to a new ongoing surrounding Jamie with familiar faces to form a team. I wasn’t very sure this was a concept you could pull off with more than one lead, but if it was David writing it, it would be good.

And it was…

…until it wasn’t.

Review: Steele reads it!* Trinity War: Pandora Prequel [AKA Pandora's Big Hairy Box!]

Share

(*So you don’t have to).

I am taking the bullet on this one. No one else wanted to read DCs new “event” THE TRINITY WAR whereby the Carrie Ann Moss character from The Matrix starts a war with the reggae singer of the same name in Trinity, Mississippi. I think that’s what this is about.

"In the name of the Father, the Son and the...HOLY SH!T!"

In any case, it starts in the recent Trinity of Sin: Pandora #1

Issue 213 – The XXX Episode!

It’s not very often that I review adult erotic comics, but one such comic has come to my attention and it’s brought ME to attention…if you know what I mean! *wink wink*

stevieD (that’s me!) sits down to talk with snowback pornographer, Butch McLogic about his erotic trilogy, Tug Harder from Class Comics. We get in depth into the process of the work and even touch on some philosophical concepts that are brought up in the story. It’s not your typical porn comic!

stevieD Says – Avengers A.I. #1

Avengers A.I. #1: Sam Humphries, Andre Lima Araujo, Frank D’Armata
Clayton Cowles

I didn’t read Age of Ultron, I didn’t read any reviews of Age of Ultron, I don’t give a fuck about the Age of Ultron. I do, however, love robots…or more accurately as the Vision would remind me, synthezoids. And even though I had no interest in the (un)event book that lead to this story, I’m all about a team of Avengers comprised of the best and brightest of the Marvel A.I. elite!

stevieD Says – Earth 2 #14

Share

Earth 2 #14: James Robinson, Nicola Scott, Trevor Scott, Dezi Sienty, Pete Pantazis

What happens when a world goes to war? The “wonders” of the world fly into action! In Earth 2 #14, we see the Fab Lantern, Dr. Sparkle, and the American Ninja Warrior rush into the island nation of Dherain to defeat the despot from Apocalypse, Steppenwolf…or were they going to a concert? What they were really doing, as we read on, is creating a PR coup for themselves. To convince the world it’s ok to wear tights and have flashy powers and to beat up people. And that they might actually take down a contender for world domination is just a happy bonus.
